Click and then above to see an example of how this web page works.
The purpose of this web page is to help maintain lists of email
addresses. The list can be a mixture of email addresses
and non-email addresses. The items can be separated by commas or
spaces, and can be on separate lines. The email addresses may or
may not be enclosed in “<>” characters.
These same rules also
apply to the optional “Do-not-email list.”
Clicking causes the email addresses in the main list (top
text box) and in the “Do-not-email list” (third text box)
to be extracted, converted to all lower case, and sorted
alphabetically. Then all duplicates, addresses containing the
“Remove emails containing” string, and “Do-not-email” addresses
are removed from the main list.
Following this, if a
number was entered into the “Maximum email addresses:” box, then
the email addresses are broken up into groups. The reason that you
might want to do this is that some email systems limit the number
of email addresses that can be “mailed to” at one time. For example,
Hotmail.com limits the number of email addresses to 50 at a time.
In this case “50” should be entered into the “Maximum email
addresses:” box. Then when is clicked the extracted email
addresses will be split up into groups of 50.
1. After clicking , “Copy/Paste” your own list of email
addresses into the first text area above.
2. If applicable, “Copy/Paste” your “Do-not-email list”
into the third text area.
3. If applicable, enter the maximum number of email addresses for
your particular email system (For Gmail, it’s 500) into the “Maximum email addresses:”
box.
4. Click .
5. “Copy/paste” the reformatted list
from the bottom text area above, one group of email addresses at a
time, into your email message’s “To:,” “Cc:” or “Bcc:” field.
NOTE: One thing that you may find annoying about this web page is that if you simply want to scroll through one of the lists in the top two text boxes, it is falsely assumed that you are about to make modifications, so the output (bottom seven) text boxes are cleared. To reverse this, simply click .
NOTE: This web page was created using Notepad. Except for the background image file the keyboard command JavaScript file and the font / color data JavaScript file, it is completely self contained, and the absence of these three files will not cause any problems. Please feel free to save it to your hard drive using “File/Save as….” Double-click on the newly created “LLBest - Utility - Email Address List Maintenance (Version 2)” icon (“Email2” icon for Firefox), and make it one of your “Favorites.” It will work perfectly even when you are no longer connected to the Internet, or, heaven forbid, when this web page is no longer available!
Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.
