| Home | Note: On July 9, 2012, it was discovered that the 4 “edit using template” selectors, if the template contained HTML, were no longer working. This bug has been fixed. |

Utility: Super Online Rich Text Editor

(Tested using IE7, IE8, IE11 and Firefox 25)

To see an example of how this web page works:

1. Select the SampleRichText1 function and then click the associated  (Apply the selected function to the selected text) button.

2. Select the <b>…</b> (bold) template and then click the associated  (Apply/remove the selected template to the selected text) button.

3. Click the same  button again.

4. Click the same  button yet again.

5. In the first line, select (highlight) Some text and then again click the associated <b>…</b>   button.

6. Click   again.

7. Click the middle  button.

8. Click .

Here’s another example:

1. Select the SampleRichText2 function and then click the associated  button.

2. Select the <ol>…</ol> (ordered list) template and then click the associated  button.

3. Click the same  button again.

Here’s yet another example:

1. Select the SampleANSI_HTML function and then click the associated  button.

2. Select the ConvertANSI_HTMLToUnicode function and then click the associated  button.

The “8 changes made” alert message may be explained as follows: 6 items of the changes count are obvious, but the other 2 are not so obvious. They result from the fact that changing 1 3/4 to was counted as 2 changes.

Note: The  /  system works completely independently of whether or not the Show HTML checkbox is checked.
With the Show HTML checkbox above unchecked, try copy/pasting a portion of a web page into the text box. Then check the Show HTML checkbox to see what the HTML looks like.
Concerning the ConvertANSI_HTMLToUnicode function, Unicode characters may be entered in 3 different ways. For example, the Greek letter Delta (Δ) may be entered as [Delta], as &Delta; ( Show HTML only), or as [#916]. Certain fractions may be entered in 4 different ways. For example, ¾ may be entered as 3/4, as [frac34], as &frac34; ( Show HTML only), or as [#190]. (See Table of HTML Special Character Designations - http://llbest.com/HTMLSpecialCharacterTable.htm)

Examples of a few of the many other special codes are as follows:

...

"…"“…”

'…'‘…’

[copy]©

[reg]®

[trade]

[sup1]¹

[sup2]²

[sup3]³

[dagger]

[Dagger]

Note: The purpose of the button is to reset the 8 function / template selectors back to their default selections.
Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.
